The Beta Sigma - Sigma Pi Foundation

5.18.2008 The Beta Sigma - Sigma Pi Foundation   We are pleased to announce that the Beta Sigma Alumni Association has expanded its reach from being a social organization to now include a Philanthropic arm through the establishment of the Beta Sigma - Sigma Pi Foundation. After discussions with the NIU Foundation and Sigma Pi International, it was deemed in our best interest to have our Foundation managed by an independent third party.....and we have selected the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. All donations made to the Beta Sigma - Sigma Pi Foundation will be acknowledged by letter from the Foundation as charitable contributions consistent with 501 (c) (3) requirements.   Our Philanthropies   On March 16th, the Executive Committee met and decided that our Philanthropies benefit BOTH students at NIU and Sigma Pi Fraternity members. With this in mind, The Beta Sigma - Sigma Pi Foundation will provide donations to the following programs....and we have set some preliminary goals.   NIU University Programs   Our initial donation will be made to the 2-14-08 Scholarship Fund - $10,000 Goal   The Beta Sigma - Sigma Pi Foundation would like to make a $10,000 contribution through the NIU Foundation to the 2-14-08 Scholarship Fund in the name of Dan Parmenter and the College of Business.   In addition, we are spearheading a drive to have all Greek Organizations at NIU contribute to this fund in a show of Greek Unity. If we have enough support, maybe we could provide matching funds for other Fraternity and Sorority donations up to $10,000.   Sigma Pi Chapter Programs   ADYTUM ON HIGH SCHOLARSHIP FUND Sigma Pi Scholarship(s) -  $5,000-$15,000 Goal   This Scholarship will be given to a deserving Sigma Pi student (or students). The goal shows a range that includes housing through full scholarship (housing, books and tuition). Candidates will be required to formally submit their requests to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley who will make the selection based upon established guidelines.   Tutors -  $2,500 Goal   This program provides specialized tutors for Sigma Pi students experiencing difficulties with their grades. This is a unique program for our Alumni Association and we have received many accolades for this concept.. Basically, we want our future Alums to succeed. With the help of the Educational Advisor, we will recognize students with needs, seek out traditional sources of tutors through NIU and our Alumni Association, and when all else fails.....provide fee based tutors.   To fund our Philanthropies, we have created a DONOR LEVELS PROGRAM outlined below.   DONOR RECOGNITION LEVELS   Matching Funds Also Applicable   Over $10,000                                Lavender and White $10,000                                          Platinum $ 5,000                                           Gold $ 2,500                                           Silver $ 1,000                                           Bronze Less than $1,000                           Green Please let me know if you are interested in making a donation davejeskey@aol.com
